2017 BIRTHDAY WISH LIST!

12.1.17

My 21st birthday is coming up slowly but surely, and being 21 is something strange, but cool. You are classed as an adult internationally. I can drink, drive, gamble and smoke anywhere in the world. Although I don't, but the opportunity is there. I am excited and anxious at the same time, being 21 comes with a huge weight on your shoulders, your nearly finishing university and will need to find a graduate job soon. Joining the real world leaving behind a kind of naivety I would surely miss.

Reality check.
....

Being 21 means there will be a big party or at least for me anyways! And with a big party comes gifts, not like I need anything, but if I wanted something it would be from the list below:

Here is my 2017 21st Birthday Wish List!!

Fujifilm Instax Mini film for my polaroid camera

Chanel is expensive, but a great investment and one day I will own one..I hope. But for now I would love a fake version of this or even a look a like.

MY 2017 GOALS

10.1.17

I never really liked the term resolutions, because it's all about things you think you should do rather than what you want to be doing. That's why I think goals are better and they can always change, you never need to stick to them throughout the 365 days.

Here are my 2017 goals to start off the year right my way:

1. Work on my health and fitness
Being healthier is something I aspire to, whether trying to push my stamina to the limit or eating more iron infused foods to get the colour back in my pale skin! I don't want to work on my health and fitness to look good, but to feel good on the inside.

2.  Complete unfinished books
Reading is a joy, pleasure and a luxury in life and sometimes I take it for granted. I am also the type of person to finish a project and see it through till the end. However, I'm not perfect so my goal is to complete every book I started to read and didn't end up finishing because I lost interest.

3. Get a 2:1 this year at university
A university education is important to me and getting a 2:1 is the minimum I should get. Getting a 2:1 is what I need to help my future career and this means trying to stop watching Netflix and procrastinating to get the grade I need....I know so hard right?

4. Save £2000
Saving money is necessary for me, my parents don't give me anything financial aid wise and I prefer it that way, I'd rather earn the money and save it for the future. Who knows maybe there might be a nice house or a lovely wedding in the future! I save my student finance, my payslip from H&M and hopefully will be getting a placement so a little more money for the rainy day fund.

5. Get a placement
I need to find a placement this year as a part of my accredited module at university, I also thought this would be valuable experience before I graduate that way I am ahead of the curve. I have started a digital and content marketing and blogging online course over the next couple of weeks, so far I'm enjoying it, I'll write a post about it when I complete the course. #2018Grad

6. Complete my everlasting to-do list
I am a massive fan of the to-do list, it is the best way to get things done. However, I have had a couple of things on my list for a while that I haven't managed to tick off, hopefully, 2017 is the year to complete the list!

7. Work to expand my blog
Blogging is a great hobby of mine, I've been doing it for 5 years on and off, numbers don't quite matter to me, but I would love to know if you guys would want different content or better quality content. (hmu)

8. Be mature and focused
I will be 21 this year and even though this means I am a fully fledged adult (internationally), I may not be as mature or focused sometimes. I want to take more responsibility in my life by either being in charge of my car and it's maintenance or by taking care of my parents more often. Things like that.

9. Travel
I would love to travel with my friends this year, many of my friends are graduating this year and who knows what the future might hold, but a great trip abroad will provide me with ever-lasting memories.

10. Move out to London
Even though as much as I like to live with my parents, next year is my last year at university and then when I graduate I will be living with my parents till I get married..most likely. I want to experience the freedom again that comes with being financially independent and living away from family. So hopefully I will be moving back onto university campus at the end of this year.

What are some of your New Year goals or resolutions?

Hope you have a Happy New Year. A x

DofE Diamond Challenge: Thank You!

9.1.17

I just want to say a big thank you to all of you who donated raising a total of £110 plus £16.25 in Gift Aid!! My initial goal was £60 so I am super happy that we nearly got double of what we needed to achieve!

I originally stated that I would be doing 60 challenges which at the beginning of the year didn't seem a lot because they weren't massive challenges, but small ones however as time passed I got a lot busier and unfortunately wasn't able to do all 60 or even 6 as stated on my 'Just Giving' page. However, I was able to complete 3 of them which were still as important as the rest of them -

1. On Saturday 2nd April I ran/jogged/walked from Slough through Eton to Windsor and back completing 10.79 km distance within an hour excluding the multiple breaks I had to take pictures of the lovely area and to grab some water. Post about my run is coming soon!

2. I signed up to be a registered NHS organ donation after I pass and donated a pint of my blood to the NHSBT. You can read all about my blood donation 'here'.

3. Originally I wanted to make care packages and hand them out to the homeless, but then the opportunity arose when after my university friends and I cooked our Christmas meal together we had so much food leftover we decided to wrap that up instead and hand it out. Post about feeding the homeless is coming soon!

Why I chose my challenge?
I am a loyal supporter of the Duke of Edinburgh's Charity that raises money for youths to get involved in their community. I wanted to do something that could push me over my comfort zone while raising money for others. As initially intended I wanted to do 60 challenges throughout the year, but I got busier and busier, reduced it to 6 and then ended up completing 3 which is still good enough for me! Being a part of the Diamond Challenge was great, it isn't like anything else you have to do like run a marathon or do some baking, you are able to dabble in anything that is a challenge to you like learning how to code or learning how to sew! It let me learn whatever I wanted to learn.

Challenges I faced doing my challenges?
There were various challenges I endured, small but still hard to deal with. If you want to read about my challenges, I have written about them in-depth in separate posts 'here'.

I wanted to thank everybody who supported my challenges big and small, and if you want to make a donation, you can do so on my 'Just Giving' page. Together with all the participants of the DofE raised over £1 Million to change the lives of million of young people across the UK!
